Bonjour, Bonjour, Bonjour!
It’s definitely been a while since I’ve written anything in this space. But, I saw a recent life-update post by Thonia Bankz earlier today that pushed me to finally update what’s been going on. Firstly, I just want to thank you guys for any type of support you’ve ever shown this space. This blog is exclusively a place where I can create however and whatever I want, there are really no rules or pressure (especially now). The fact that I can connect with people here is just so cool! Especially when I get responses such as, “I’ve been dealing with the same thing” or “this make me feel less alone.” The goal is just always to authentically create and any connection made along the way is always amazing. So here’s what I’ve been up to:
DEPRESSION + ANXIETY + HYPERPROLACTINEMIA:
It’s me. I know I’ve been on a little hiatus but, I just wanted to take this time to talk about how I’ve been feeling for the last couple of months. To some of you, this may not really come as a surprise because you’ve read my other post about keeping inspired or you might follow me on IG and have seen my last post from around a month ago or so but… I guess let’s get to it.
I’ve been feeling really.. all over the place for the last two years. Very emotionally unstable with a lack of direction in my life. It’s weird because all my life I’ve always had set goals. I knew I wanted to go to college for the most part. I knew I wanted to be a doctor, which then turned into a scientist because med-school was too long which then turned into something more creative like a Journalist or Writer. I knew I wanted to get out of Miami, which I did for a little, and basically, I knew what direction I wanted my life to go in. Which would hopefully take me to California or Western Europe aiming to live a more simple life. Anyway, that all changed when I was in Boston. I’ve spoken a little bit about being depressed and extremely anxious before. I realized that my anxiety got out of hand when I would tense up and freeze at simple situations like having to make phone calls, or speak to certain people. Living in Boston was just making things worse for me; I was at a job I hated, not even in school anymore which was the entire reason I moved there and just overall felt so down about myself. I felt like, I really had nothing to look forward to besides my close friends (I know, it sounds really intense). So I decided to move back to Miami and be with my family, friends and get a little rest, recoup and recharge.

Okay, you guys are already familiar with this dress from my Keeping Inspired post. Well, this is the official feature. Some of you may not have known but, a lot of my style consists of things that are just easy to wear: dresses, skirts, loose tops & pants because it’s just who I am. Seriously, I literally started wearing jeans just a few years ago (never used to be a huge fan, too hot in Miami).

There are only two seasons in Miami; hot and hotter. And as the weather gradually get’s warmer, I know that summer is quickly approaching. Summer in Miami is… kind of strange. Continue reading “Summer Days and Keeping Inspired”
Recently, I was fortunate enough to attend a beach wedding. The invite stressed beachy-casual which surprisingly, is harder than one may think.

Quite a few people have been asking me how I keep my skin clear. Now, by no means is my skin perfect but, I can say I have come a long way from where I first started.

I’m proud to say I’m growing and it took a little perspective for me to see just how much. You see the thing with growth is that it’s easy to miss. I believe we often measure our personal success and growth through comparison to other people. Although a little dose of that can be good to further our motivation, there’s a fine line between motivation and envy.

It’s finally happened; we have officially entered winter in Miami. Even if only for a few days, something tells me I’m not the only one soaking up this cooler weather. This passed week was Miami Art Week, which means everyone with the slightest interest in art came out to celebrate in the form of visiting art galleries, viewing live performances, viewing installations or just having drinks at a bar (hey, we don’t judge here). It was nice to see everyone out and about.

I recently returned from a 5-day trip to Boston
which was amazing, to say the least. I used to live there so I feel so fortunate to have spent time with some of my favorite people, drink delicious coffee on repeat and explore my old stomping grounds in the fall. Ahh, I can hear the leaves crunching underneath my feet. So, I was particularly proud of myself for this trip because I managed to pack light! Well, light by J standards (i.e. a carry-on luggage and a weekender bag).
